I am writing the tips which are about driving in the United States.
I has driven for around 1700 miles in the Eastern Coast in 7 days. Mainly between NYC, long trip like NYC To Boston, Boston to Buffalo and then return to NYC. I'd also driven to Atlantic city.
Generally, you have to pay attention that the driving style is different with Europe, but they are still polite when you use your turning lights or put your hands to ask them stop. They drive quite fast although in the city area.
The toll road here you can pay by either a system called EZ Pass / E-Toll or cash, and cash is divided into exact charge or full service, in the exact charge channel you have to prepare enough coins and there is no agent to help you, but the full service channel you can get the receipt. If you don't have an EZpass, DON'T go through the channel or you will be fined $200 US dollars.
Parking in NYC is quite expensive, if you plan is mainly in NYC, I suggest you you can take a taxi or by Metro, although the hotel there afford valet parking but they mostly charge you $60 each 24 hours and without an in/out parking privilege, other public parking cost mostly $6 each 1/2 hours, $48 a day. If you want to park near on the street, be careful your GPS or any valuable things in your car, the meter system there accept coins or credit, but bear in mind that you can just park for 1 hour in mostly meters. After your purchased you will get a receipt and put it on the dashboard or somewhere near your steeling and can be easily seen. DON'T put it face down or you will be fined.
These are some experiences that after I drove in the NYC I would like to share, I will write something about driving in the highway later.
